We’re going on a car vacation/road trip to Germany for two and a half weeks starting Wednesday and the other half put the limit at one ‘car-thing’.

Any tips? The location doesn’t matter, we’re basically going to do a full circle of Germany. I was thinking of going to the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart, since the Nürburgring doesn’t seem appropriate in a Citroën C6 Diesel.

Merc, BMW, and Porsche museum are all awesome. My favorite of the three was Porsche, although if you’re looking to make your one car-thing last as long as possible, Merc will give you the most bang for your buck. It’s huge—you could easily spend all day there. Might also be the most enjoyable for your other half since they have a lot of exhibits that go beyond just engineering and motor sport. Things like celebrity cars, work vehicles; stuff you just wouldn’t get at, say, the Porsche Museum.

I just moved to Mannheim from Melbourne for work. Only tip is to rent a decent car and see how fast it will go (on a Sunday, when trucks aren’t allowed on the autobahn)
